PM on MEP Kubilius Statement: Saakashvili’s Possible Involvement is Offensive to our Country

PM: Construction of Namakhvani HPP Dam to be Suspended for 9-12 Months

PM Garibashvili

“This is an offensive statement. Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili has exited politics. He also left his political position and later party chairmanship by openly stating that he is no longer participating in politics and has no plans to be involved. This is a simple truth,” Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated today in response to a question posed by a journalist about the statement made by MEP Andrius  Kubilius after observing the ongoing rehabilitation works at Enguri HPP.

“Secondly, as for Saakashvili’s possible involvement, it is insulting to our country, our state, that someone, whoever he may be, and I absolutely care little, to call on us to formally involve this criminal accused and convicted of a number of serious crimes, in these negotiations in any form,” noted

As the Head of Government of Georgia stated, “today Saakashvili is on the verge of being ousted from Ukraine for being entwined in corruption scandals, and he is currently staging a show.”

“I want to remind everyone that Saakashvili is on the verge of being ousted from Ukraine. You may have seen footage on the corruption cases that he is entangled in. All the cases involving his corrupt team were brought to surface and prosecuted. Secondly, he does not really do anything in Ukraine and it is a staged show, similar to the one he was doing here. He is now committing the same wrongdoing there, of course, at a smaller scale. Thirdly, Saakashvili renounced his Georgian citizenship himself. The person who served as president of this country for 9 years did it! What we are talking about here?!”

Andrius Kubilius, a Lithuanian politician who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019, says that not the formal, but the real leaders, Mikheil Saakashvili and Bidzina Ivanishvili, should take part in the talks between the government and the opposition.
